Good news to all Avira Antivirus lovers. Today, Avira released the 2012 version of itsantivirus security software for Windows. Avira Free Antivirus, Avira Internet Security2012, and Avira Antivirus Premium 2012 are the newly released 2012 security software for Windows.
Avira Free Antivirus not only detects viruses and malware, it can also protect your PC from other threats such as adware, spyware, and phishing. The Avira system scanner scans boot sectors of selected drives and also the master boot sectors of the hard disk(s) used in the PC.
Avira Free Antivirus 2012 sports intuitive user interface with improved detection rates. The main screen or the home screen of Avira displays the overview of system protection such as real-time protection status, last scan date, last update date, etc.
The Scheduler gives you the option of creating scheduled scanning and update jobs. When you install Avira, a small Avira icon sits in the notification area (system tray). Right-click on Avira system tray icon to access the main functions such as enable or disable real-time protection, start Avira Antivirus home screen, configure Avira antivirus, update database, and view Avira messages.
The free version of Avira Antivirus lacks some features. Web protection, mail protection, rescue system, proactive (detects unknown viruses by their behaviour patterns), game mode, and some other advanced protections are missing from the free version.
Automatic detection and removal of potentially incompatible software feature has also been added in the setup file. That is, Avira setup automatically detects the programs that conflict with the antivirus and tries to remove the software from the PC.
The setup file of Avira Antivirus 2012 supports both x86 and x64 versions of XP, Vista, Windows 7 and the latest Windows 8 operating systems. Do note the setup offers you to install Avira SearchFree Toolbar (powered by Ask.com search engine) during installation.
